AQATWW: Word Shuffling

I am working my way through Alexandra Quick and the Wizard War, doing my first editing pass. So far I am mostly just going chapter by chapter fixing superficial things and shuffling words around. I'm about 25% of the way through ( Read more... )

After a bit of slacking, I have been picking up the pace recently. 202,000 words and 36 chapters, with 56 in my outline. Eep. I was determined to keep AQATWW under AQATWA's word count (which was just short of 300,000) but right now I am on track to match or exceed book five's word length ( Read more... )

AQATWA is underway, with a twice-a-week posting schedule working well for me.

I am amazed how active the r/AlexandraQuick subreddit is. I try to follow every thread, but since there is no way (that I know of) to automatically see all the new posts since you last visited (I know you can sort individual threads by "New" but that sorting function ( Read more... )

AQATWA Status

swissmarg is about halfway through. shinygobonkers is at about the 25% mark, and tealterror0 is wrapping up other projects and will hopefully be able to start shortly ( Read more... )

I have three betas for AQATWA. One is about a third of the way through the book, one is on chapter five, and one is still in the process of rereading the first four books. So work is proceeding - I have made a number of changes already, but they are mostly on the word-and-sentence level. They haven't yet hit any of the Big Honkin' Plot Points that ( Read more... )

I know I said I probably wouldn't bother doing chapter illustrations this time around, but I finally dusted off my old Poser software (actually, I went and upgraded it to the newest version), and pretty soon found myself fiddling with dials and morphs again. It's kind of addictive once you get started.

I'm currently on Chapter 40 in my revisions. 16 chapters to go!

So far, there is not as much wholesale cutting as I expected. I have not actually deleted or moved any chapters in their entirety. I have cut a lot of extraneous text, and changed some other things, but some of those changes have involved actually adding material. So my ( Read more... )
